“We’re Here We’re High, Get Used to IT!”
Founded in 2023, the People Chance Initiative is a San Francisco-based addiction advocacy organization dedicated to saving lives and preventing overdoses through community-driven action. Central to our mission is the widespread distribution of Narcan, an opioid overdose reversal drug, empowering individuals and communities to respond effectively in emergency situations. In addition to this critical service, we actively advocate for the establishment of safe injection sites, where individuals can use substances under medical supervision, drastically reducing the risks of overdose and disease transmission.
Our commitment to supporting vulnerable populations extends beyond harm reduction. Through our Lunch Bag Initiative, we provide daily meals to those in need, ensuring that no one in our community goes hungry. Additionally, our innovative “No Questions Asked, None of My Business” program addresses petty theft by offering $10 a day to individuals at risk of shoplifting. This initiative provides a dignified alternative to crime, helping people meet their basic needs without resorting to theft.
We recognize that addressing the immediate needs of those struggling with addiction is only part of the solution. The People Chance Initiative is committed to providing long-term support through housing and social services, connecting individuals with the resources they need to achieve stability and improve their lives. Our holistic approach combines immediate relief with sustainable, long-term solutions, aimed at empowering individuals on their path to recovery and reintegration.
At the core of our mission is the belief that it’s time to end the stigma surrounding addiction. We advocate that individuals, even in active addiction, can live purposeful and fulfilling lives and should not be shamed for their struggles. The People Chance Initiative strives to create a society that treats all people with dignity and respect, offering support without judgment. We are dedicated to fostering understanding and providing tangible resources to help those affected by addiction thrive.
